Basic French Language Study

Basic French language courses at FAU include six semesters of study from Beginning (FRE 1120) to Advanced French (FRE 3400). Students who come from francophone regions themselves but lack grammatical training or experience in writing, may take "Français de perfectionnement" (FRE 3340) to complete the equivalent of third-year college French. For course descriptions, including pre-requisites at each level from Beginning through Advanced French, click on COURSES. For students wishing to take French for their FAU foreign language requirement, return to the HOME page for the Department of Languages and Linguistics for guidelines and instructions.
